Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) organized a player’s draft for the upcoming eighth edition of Pakistan Super League that will begin in February next year. A total of 493 players were available for acquisition in the PSL auction for the six franchises taking part in the competition next year.

Two-time Champions Islamabad United prove to be biggest beneficiaries this time around as they bought England all-rounder Moeen Ali for the coming season. All-rounder Sikandar Raza was also picked up by Lahore. James Vince was picked by Karachi Kings after they released Babar Azam earlier in November.

Multan Sultans picked up David Miller and Joshua Little for the coming season of PSL.  The eighth edition of Pakistan Super League will be played from 13th February till 19th March.

Pakistan Super League (PSL): Draft

Platinum Round

Lahore Qalandars were the given the opportunity to first select their player in the platinum category. The franchise retained Fakhar Zaman for the coming edition of PSL.

Quetta Gladiators made a great decision and picked up Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga in the round. Gladiators also retained all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz for the coming season.

Multan Sultans went for South African power-hitter David Miller and Joshua Little in this round. Mohammad Rizwan, who is the captain of the franchise has been retained for the coming PSL season.

Karachi Kings picked up Former South African spinner Imran Tahir and Australian wicket-keeper Matthew Wade in this round and retained Haider Ali for the next year’s competition.

Most popular franchise Peshawar Zalmi also bought Sri Lanka’s Bhanuka Rajapaksa and West Indies’ Rovman Powell for the coming season and named Babar Azam as captain of the franchise for the coming season.

Islamabad United decided to go with Alex Hales and Rahmanullah Gurbaz in this round and retained captain Shadab Khan for the coming season of PSL.

2023 Pakistan Super League, HBL PSL

Diamond Round

Batting all-rounder Hussain Talat was picked up Lahore Qalandars for next season. Pacer Haris Rauf and all-rounder David Wiese has been retained by the franchise in the Diamond category for next season.

Off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman was been picked by Peshawar Zalmi in this round. Pacer Wahab Riaz and West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford has been retained by Zalmi for the coming season.

West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith was bought by the Quetta Gladiators in the Diamond round. England opener Jason Roy and Iftikhar Ahmed have been retained by Gladiators for the coming season of PSL.

Karachi Kings made a big move and purchased England duo of James Vince and James Fuller in this category. Shoaib Malik, Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir have been retained by Kings for the coming edition of PSL.

Islamabad United bought Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi for the coming season. Asif Ali and Mohammad Wasim were retained by the franchise in this round.

Multan Sultans have retained Rilee Rossouw, Shan Masood and Khushdil Shah in this category.

2023 Pakistan Super League, PSL, HBL PSL

Golden Round

Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza and England all-rounder Liam Dawson was bought by Lahore Qalandars in this round. Multan Sultans selected West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein for next season. Quetta picked opener Ahsan Ali for coming season. Australian all-rounder Andrew Tye was picked up by Karachi Kings.

Danish Aziz and Arshad Iqbal were notable acquisitions made by Peshawar during this round. Wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Haris has been retained by Zalmi during this category.

PSL Draft 2023, Pakistan Super League, HBL PSL

Silver Round

In this round, Islamabad United bought Sohaib Maqsood, Abrar Ahmed and Rumman Raees for the next PSL season. Colin Munro and Zimbabwe’s Paul Stirling have been retained by United in this round for the coming PSL season.

Leg-spinner Usman Qadir and rookie batsman Saim Ayub was picked by Peshawar Zalmi in the Silver Round. Aamir Jamal, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Salman Irshad was retained by Zalmi in this category.

Aamer Yamin, Sharjeel Khan and Mir Hamza have been retained by Karachi Kings in this round. Tayyab Tahir and Mohammad Akhlaq have been picked by Karachi Kings in the three rounds of Silver category.

Pacer Umaid Asif and Mohammad Zahid have been picked by Quetta Gladiators. England’s Will Smeed, Umar Akmal and Afghanistan pacer Naveen Ul Haq have been retained by Gladiators in the three rounds of Silver category.

Kamran Ghulam and England’s Harry Brook have been retained in this round by Lahore Qalandars. Dilbar Hussain, Mirza Tahir Baig and Ahmed Daniyal have been picked by Qalandars for the upcoming season of PSL.

Multan Sultans picked five players-Usama Mir, Usman Khan, Sameen Gul, Anwar Ali and Mohammad Sarwar Afridi for the coming edition of the league.

Emerging Round

Promising all-rounder Qasim Akram was picked by Lahore Qalandars, whereas Aimal Khan was bought by Quetta Gladiators.

Hassan Nawaz was bought by Islamabad United in this round.

Supplementary Round

Peshawar Zalmi made a bold move and picked by New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham in this round.

Two-time Champions, Islamabad United, picked up England all-rounder Moeen Ali and rookie batsman Mubashir Khan for the coming season.

Left-arm chinaman Tabraiz Shamsi and Mohammad Umar were picked by Karachi Kings in this round.

England’s Jordan Cox was picked by Lahore Qalandars, whereas Adil Rashid was bought by Multan Sultans.

New Zealand opener Martin Guptill was bought by Quetta Gladiators in this round.
