The window for pre-season trading for 2023 Indian Premier League ended on 15th November. All eight franchises taking part in the competition, made some changes to their squads ahead of the IPL auction event. The 2023 Indian Premier League auction was a one-day event held in Kochi on 23rd December.

England all-rounder Sam Curran became the most expensive player (Rs 18.5 crores) in the history of Indian Premier League. England Test captain Ben Stokes was bought by Chennai Super League for a whopping fee of Rs 16.25 crores.

Promising all-rounder Cameron Green also hogged the limelight as he was purchased by Mumbai Indians for a staggering amount of Rs 17 crores. Pat Cummins, Mayank Agarwal and Kane Williamson were not retained by their respective franchises for the coming edition of IPL.

Let’s take a look at the list of players  released, retained and picked by the eight franchises for  IPL Auction event that was held in Kochi on 23rd December.

 

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have decided to retain their premier players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Jofra Archer and Jaspreet Bumrah. All-rounders Arjun Tendulkar and Tilak Varma also are in the squad for the coming season of Indian Premier League.

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was the most expensive player bought by Mumbai Indians for the coming season of Indian Premier League. Duan Jansen and Jhye Richardson are the other two notable players picked by Mumbai during IPL Auction event.

Released Players: Kieron Pollard, Murugan Ashwin, Tymal Mills, Jaydev Unadkat, Anmopreet Singh, Mayank Markande, Riley Meredith, Fabian Allen, Daniel Sams, Sanjay Yadav.

 

Rajasthan Royals

Inaugural Champions Rajasthan Royals bought West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder for a fee of Rs 5.75 crores.Former England Test captain Joe Root has been signed by Royals for nest year’s Indian Premier League.

The team management decided to pick one or two players for the coming edition of Indian Premier League.

With Buttler, Samson, Padikkal and Hetymer in their squad, Rajasthan Royals have lot of experience in the batting department. Ravi Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult are key performers in the bowling department for Royals for the coming IPL season

Retained Players: Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetymer, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, Devdutt Padikkal, Riyan Parag, Navdeep Saini, Ravi Ashwin, Obed McCoy, Kuldip Yadav, Dhruv Jurel, K.C. Cariappa and Kuldeep Sen.

Released Players: Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rassie van der Dussen, James Neesham, Karun Nair, Corbin Bosch, Tejas Baroka, Daryl Mitchell.

 

Sunrisers Hyderabad

2016 IPL Champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad made noticeable changes ahead of the new Indian Premier League season. The one-time champions have released big players like Kane Williamson, Nicholas Pooran and Romario Shepherd.

England batsman Harry Brook was signed for a whopping fee of Rs 13.25 crores. Indian opener Mayank Agarwal was bought by Sunrisers for 8.25 crores.

Washington Sundar has been retained by Hyderabad for coming edition of Indian Premier League.

Chennai Super Kings

Four-time Chennai Super Kings have decided to release players like Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, Adam Milne, Robin Uthappa, and KM Asif.

CSK made a notable acquisition of Ben Stokes, who was bought for a whopping fee of Rs 16.25 crores. Former Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was bought by franchise during IPL Auction event.

New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson have been signed by CSK during IPL Auction.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi has decided to go with the same core of players for the coming season of Indian Premier League. England wicket-keeper Phil Salt and Indian pacer Ishant Sharma have been picked by Delhi Capitals during the 2023 IPL Auction held on 23rd December.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Two-time champions Kolkata have signed N Jagadeeshan for the coming season of Indian Premier League. David Wiese and Shakib Al Hasan was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders to bolster the squad for the coming edition of IPL.

Captain Shreyas Iyer will be hoping that the side can show consistency with bat and ball in coming edition of Indian Premier League

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The franchise picked up England duo of Reece Topley and Will Jacks during the IPL Auction held in Kochi. Rajat Patidar has come in as a replacement for the coming season of Indian Premier League.

Chama Milind, Sherfane Rutherford, Luvnith Sisodia and Aneeshwar Gautam are other four players released from the squad.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings signed England all-rounder Sam Curran for a staggering prize of Rs. 18.50 crores. He became the most expensive player to be sold in the history of Indian Premier League

Head Coach Trevor Bayliss will be hoping that franchise can make an impact in the coming season of Indian Premier League.

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants have signed West Indies batsman Nicholas Pooran for a staggering fee of Rs 16 crores. Afghanistan pacer Naveen Ul Haq and Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams are notable acquisitions made by LSG during IPL Auction event held in Kochi.

Gujarat Titans

Defending Champions have signed New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, Indian wicket-keeper KS Bharat and West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League. Ireland seamer Joshua Little was roped in by Gujarat Titans for a fee of Rs.4.4 crores.
